The Science SKF7 is a standardized extract of Labisia pumila. The Malays have used Labisia pumila, known locally as Kacip Fatimah, as a traditional medicine for over 400 years. SKF7 became Malaysia’s first product to receive USFDA clearance as a New Dietary Ingredient (NDI) in 2020, with an expected clearance from EFSA as a Novel Food in 2021. Patents will be filed in Malaysia and in the United States. All the specifications of SKF7 are in accordance with USFDA and European standards and regulations.
Safety of the extract has been highlighted by four toxicity studies (GLP and OECD compliant):
1) a bacterial reverse mutation test (OECD 471),
2) in vitro chromosome aberration test (OECD 473),
3) in vivo micronucleus test (OECD 474) and
4) sub-chronic 90-day toxicity study (OECD 408).
Preclinical research shows that SKF7 inhibits visceral fat accumulation in high fat diet rodents and exhibited anti-obesity effects. Case studies in humans reported normalization of blood glucose levels and reduction in total cholesterol, triglyceride levels, and waist circumferences.
