JOHAN NASIR

Academically, a former student of Information Systems Engineering at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine (University of London) and MBA student of Charles Sturt University, Australia. He has completed three Executive Business and Private Equity & Venture Capital courses with University Malaya and Open University respectively in 2006 and Malaysian University of Science & Technology in 2008.

In 2009, he took up a new professional challenge of heading up a business specifically focusing on Location Based Technologies, as the Chief Marketing Officer for Vector Communications Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary under a well known corporate, Antah Group (SPA). Professionally, he has spent over five years evaluating over a thousand innovation business ideas as the Senior Investment Manager with the Cradle Investment Programme, under Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd (wholly funded under the Ministry of Finance), which provides grant funding to technology entrepreneurs. He is now a panel industry mentor with Cradle. He also sat on the Evaluation Committee for the Technopreneurship Preseed Fund under Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) via Technopreneurs Association Malaysia (TeAM).

As a seasoned entrepreneur, he currently simultaneously manages various business concerns under his Ascension Group, by being the Senior Partner with Ascension Capital Sdn Bhd (Consumer Debt Restructuring & Management Specialist), Ascension Exchange (Investments, Commodities & Projects Business Matching) and Ascension Media Communications (Advertising & Integrated Marketing Firm), the Managing Director of Ascension Audioco (International Concerts & Talent Management) and as Managing Editor in FriggLive.com (Online Entertainment Publication). He is also a shareholder and director of Lions Bay Development Berhad, a Property Development concern. He sits on the Board of Directors of several other companies in Property Development & Management, Trading, Public Relations and other industries. He’s also involved in multiple mentoring, advisory and nurturing capacities with entrepreneurs for various start-up projects ranging from Technology, Finance and Investments, Mobile Content, Automotive and the Film industry.

Prior to Cradle, he was the Vice President for Marketing & Strategic Planning, at VT Corporation, a telecommunications and media company providing Internet Broadband via Satellite, Smart Home Solutions, Internet & Digital TV Broadcasting, Multimedia Content & Communications Services and E-Living Consultancy. Prior to that, he was the Manager for Business Development for the CEO’s Office and the Project Director for numerous International & Special Projects with VOL Asia Sdn Bhd, a Commercial Internet Application and Media Service Provider similar to the America Online service.

An Entrepreneur since he was 12 years old and domain experience currently in more than 5 industries, his competencies covers a diverse range of specialisations from Marketing, Sales, Account Management, Finance, Business Operations, Research, Corporate Strategy, Technology, Project Management, Legal, Brand Development, Media, Advertising, Public Relations, Corporate Communications stemming from his multiple industry exposure. As a noted industry speaker, he has travelled speaking on various versatile topics including Entrepreneurship, Funding, Motivation, Business Plan Training and other relevant topics.

In 2008, he co-founded the Kuala Lumpur Drumline Corps (KLDC) performing percussion drums group which has already performed in over 70 shows to date and has represented Malaysia in the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival and performed at the Sunburst Music Festival within 8 months of establishment. He sits as a shareholder and on the board for KLDC Ventures Sdn Bhd which does talent management and community youth projects. As an International Celebrity DJ and Club Promoter over the past 10 years, he has organized and still plays in various clubs in London, Singapore, Bali and Shanghai including numerous intimate high profile parties, venues and events in Malaysia.

In 1992, he was the youngest and one of the original founding members of and is currently the Assistant Secretary of the Super Bikers Club of Malaysia. He is still active as an Exco member of Leaders for Tomorrow (L4T) and former Council Member and Sub Committee for Technopreneurs Association Malaysia (TeAM). His past affiliations include the Young Corporate Malaysians (YCM), Porsche Owners Club of Malaysia, Malaysian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association, International Tae Kwon Do Federation, an honoured member of the International WHO’s WHO of Professionals, International Association of Business Leaders and the former Chairperson in the Energy, Communications & Multimedia Select Committee and Director of the Social Series Programme within the Young Professionals Chambers of Malaysia (PROMUDA). He also previously served as the Vice President of the Malaysian Business Breakfast Club, contributing to his vast international business network. For all of his achievements, he was recognized in Prestige Magazine’s “Top 40 Under 40” entrepreneurs in 2009.

CHU BOON

Khooi Chu Boon, 38 years of age, holds a degree in Bachelor of Science with major in Computer Science and Mathematics. He has over 15 years of technical and managerial experiences in ICT (Information and Communication Technology) specialized in High Availability Solutions and Enterprise Technical Support. He is currently a share holder and executive director of IT Essentials Sdn Bhd (“ITE”) & Visi Raya Sdn Bhd. He is having the role of Director, Operations and Support. ITE is an ICT system integration company with more than 40 employees, having its operations and offices in Selangor, Penang and Bangkok. Chu Boon also oversee Sales Operations and devise sales and marketing strategies for the groups of companies.

Chu Boon started his career in ICT in 1994 with Solsisnet Sdn Bhd ( a member of Dataprep Berhad) as IS Executive, managing the IT infrastructure, support 120 personnel s of Solsisnet Sdn Bhd and Solsis Berhad.

In 1997, he moved on to Hewlett-Packard Sales (M) Sdn Bhd as a Customer Engineers in software & application for HP customers such as Tabung Haji, Telekom Berhad, EON Berhad, Motorola etc, providing technical support and as customers’ technical sounding board for his assigned customers.

As the support team grew, Chu Boon also grew to the position of Manager for the Enterprise Support Department for Klang Valley customers from 2000 to 2004. During that period, he is responsible for managing and maintaining HP customers who are on PSS (Personalized System Support) & CSS (Critical System Support) support contracts valued at about RM40 million during that time.

In 2004, Chu Boon was head hunted by Dell Corporation to manage the Enterprise Support Services for Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ), based in Penang, Malaysia. During these times until 2006, he worked closely with Dell APJ’s 6 regional Call Centers and leading the respective region Enterprise Support Organizations to deliver world class enterprise support services, service program and high expectation Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI). Chu Boon also took on the role as program manager to program managed Enterprise Support Solutions from Corporate Office to APJ.

Chu Boon has been exposed to 2 MNCs cultures which are very diversed and also have experienced much technical training, which has translated into many successful implementations in companies such as Celcom Berhad, Seagate Corporation, Bank Negara Malaysia, MIMOS Berhad, Genting Berhad etc. Through soft-skill trainings & self-development, he is also trained to be people-friendly & meticulous in leading and managing team dynamics.

Chu Boon is ITIL Certified and is a recipient of HP Asia Pacific High Flyer Award in 1998. He also received numerous positive customers’ feedback for outstanding service delivery.

Outside of work, Chu Boon is also active members in MARTS (Malaysia Amateur Radio Transmission Society) to provide emergency communications during disasters and foster friendship and promote radio communications technology, which is one of the “oldest” modern communications methods over vast areas. He holds a amateur radio operator license from MCMC with a call sign of 9W2KCB.

His other interests include nutrition, numerology studies, philosophy & network marketing.

Chu Boon has recently completed the NLP & Neuro-Action Practitioner Certification from Sam Witteveen Institute of NLP & Neuro-Action. He will also will be continued on this journey to NLP & Neuro-Action Master Practitioner Certification in coming months.
